Skin Care 3

Determines Your Skin Type

Step 1

Wash your face to remove make-up. Wash with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. This cleans away oils and dirt that may have accumulated during your day, giving your skin a fresh start. Do not over wash though.

Step 2 Wait for 30mins. During this time, your skin should return to its natural state, the characteristics of which will determine your skin type. Act normally and don't touch your face.

Step 3 Dab your face with a tissue. Pay attention to the 'T-zone'-the area of your forehead and nose.

Step 4 Skin falls into four types- Normal; Oily; Dry and Combination. Normal skin shows neither oil nor flaking skin. It should feel supple and smooth. If you have it, consider yourself lucky. Oily skin is characterized by the grease on the tissue. It is also common for a person with oily skin to have large pores and a shine. Dry skin may feel taut or show flakes of dead skin. It is associated with small pores. Moisturizing is important for this skin type. Combination skin is most common. It exhibits traits of all three of the above skin types. Usually, the skin is oily in the T-zone and normal to dry elsewhere. :Every skin type reacts differently to the care given to it. Which is why knowing your unique skin type is extremely essential for your skincare. NORMAL SKIN This skin is neither too dry nor too oily. It is well balanced.. it has no sensitivity, few or no breakouts and fine pores. If you have a normal skin, u don't have to go all out with all skin care routine. However, make it a point to stay healthy.. - stay hydrated ( if you don't drink enough water, your skin may dry up and start getting flaky) - moisturize - remove make-up before sleeping ( they can lead to breakouts. You can avoid that by taking it off after a long day). - wash/ cleanse your face before sleeping. ( Wash your face every night before you sleep. Infact, take a full bath. Your skin would need that after the long day).

OILY SKIN TYPE They're extremely oily, they show greasy appearance and they're prone to breakouts. They're caused by - Hormonal changes - Climate (where you live and the time of the year can contribute to oily skin) - Large pores - Harsh Soaps ( using harsh chemicals, not suitable for your skin type, can contribute to oily skin) Care for your oily skin **Moisturize regularly **Stay hydrated ( this will prevent your skin from producing excess oil) **Wash your face twice a day. Just two times is enough. Don't overwash (over washing can remove the necessary oils from your skin). DRY SKIN TYPE You identify them by, Flaky and rough skin Uneven texture Itching - tight skin. They're caused by - Long Showers; if you spend long hours in the shower, it will rip your skin of its necessary oils. - Age - Season Care of dry skin - moisturize regularly to keep it soft and hydrated. - Don't spend too much time in the shower 🧏🏽 - Drink lots of water - Pat your skin gently while drying yourself up.

COMBINATION SKIN TYPE This is a mixture of two skin types - Dry and Oily skin. You know them by - Oily T-zone and dry cheeks. ( T-zone, your to your nose and chin). - Breakouts only on foreheads, nose and chins. - Sensitive cheeks. They're caused by -Product; harsh products can cause a change in skin type and contribute to excesses sebum production in the T-zone. -Climate; you may see changes in your skin type depending on the changes in the weather. For instance, your skin may be oily in the hot weather and dry in the winter months. Care For Combination skin type - use natural cleansers -Exfoliate gently and once in a while (for this skin type, exfoliating everyday isn't recommended. -Buy oil free products, buy oil free make-up to avoid clogged skin

SENSITIVE SKIN They react to skincare, feels itchy while wearing tight clothes, uneven skin texture, becomes oily in the hot season.

To Care For Sensitive Skin - Don't Overdo Your Skincare Routine - Choose a mild natural cleansing method. - Choose a mild natural moisturizing method. - Don't apply too many products, make-up on your face.

YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE To know the best routine to follow, you have to first know your skin. The right routine starts with knowing the kind of skin you have. *** *I believe we went through the previous topic and we all know our skin type by now.*** After knowing your skin type, use the CEM method or the CTM for your skincare. CEM method? C - CLEANSING E - EXFOLIATING M - MOISTURIZING. CTM method C - CLEANSING T - TONING M - MOISTURIZING.

**After Cleansing ( Cleansing is when you use cleansers to wash your face. You can use a mild soap and warm water to clean the skin surface before applying your natural cleanser). ** Then Exfoliate ( pick a natural, homemade exfoliating method that's convenient for you *** After exfoliating, you make sure to moisturize the skin. *Pls, it's advisable not to wear makeup for the rest of the day, you can pick your free day of the week, let's say Saturdays to do this. Cleansing comes first. Exfoliants should be applied after Cleansing but before moisturizing. *** With or without following you following a skin care routine, it's important you cleanse every morning and when you get back after the long day.

How do I set that Perfect Natural Skincare Routine First you draw a chart in your jotter, diary or journal so you'll always remember... although, if you're consistent with it, it becomes a lifestyle. See my sample. *1st step* - 30 minutes exercise.

*2nd step*- Before I start, I'll make sure to wash my face with a mild soap and warm water ( warm water to open my pores to absorb all necessary nutrients).

*3rd step*; Applying my face Cleanser. ***Picking from the homemade cleansers I gave in the other class. For a Oily Skin I'll go for a lemon and honey cleanser.

For a Dry Skin I'll pick the Milk and Honey Cleanser. For a sensible or combination skin type I'll use the pure honey cleanser. *4th step*; Exfoliating. **After I cleanse, I need to exfoliate. Picking a very natural and convenient exfoliant for my self.... *I can go with the sugar* or the *honey and brown sugar* or even the *salt* exfoliating process . **These are what you find normally and without stress. **I already explained the procedures in one of our previous classes.

*5th step* After Exfoliating, I need to moisturize. ***Picking from the natural homemade moisturizers I stated,.. For a Dry Skin I can go with the cucumber moisturizer For as Oily Skin I can go with the orange moisturizer (if I have my tumeric) or the Pawpaw process For Sensitive Skin* I'll go for the Pawpaw natural moisturizer. *6th step* RELAXATION (my favorite😊). I'll read a book or watch a movie and take a long nap afterwards. Then I'll take a walk later in the evening when the sun's down and allow the cool breeze on my skin🤗....
